A group of spiritualists who work in Lagos have warned that the state will experience another surge of heavy rainfall and flooding unless 50 virgins can be found for a ritual to appease the gods. They have warned that unless instructions are adhered to, the coming floods will be similar to the biblical floods of the days of Noah.
The group claims that the virgins must be natives from Lagos, be old enough to marry and be very beautiful. The idea is to get the virgins to dance naked at the Bar Beach in the dead of night, singing and pleading with Yemoja (Goddess of the sea) to please spare the state and its people.
The Council of Lagos State Spiritualists have notified the Lagos state government of the urgency of the situation. Perhaps based more on reposts from meteorologists, the government has warned citizens to brace up for more heavy downpour and runaway flooding starting from next week.
