Ibori’ll still be tried in Nigeria — EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday expressed delight at the confession of ex-governor James Onanefe Ibori before a Southwark Crown Court in London by pleading guilty, saying it awaits the sentencing of the embattled former governor on April 16.
The commission also indicated that the former governor would also be tried in Nigeria after serving his jail terms in the UK.
A statement by the spokesman for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said the EFCC had been vindicated that the ex-govenor had a case to answer.
He said, “The interesting aspect of the development in London is the fact that Ibori chickened out of a full blown fraud and money laundering trial by changing his plea.
“This was purely a gambit to run away with a lighter sentence, rather than the product of a plea bargain as erroneously reported earlier in sections of the media. For the avoidance doubt, plea bargain is not recognised in UK criminal justice system.
“Sadly, it has taken five years of legal rigmarole and high drama for the former governor to own up to having committed some of the crimes for which Justice Marcel Awokulehin of the Federal High Court, Asaba, sensationally acquitted him in December 2009. The commission challenged the ruling. That appeal is still pending before the Court of Appeal, Benin City, Edo State.”

Where my N3RDS at?! Google offers to pay $1m to hackers of web browser
Google has offered to pay $1 million to anyone who can successfully hack its web browser, Chrome.
Chrome has entered an international hacking contest called Pwn2Own for the past three years and left untouched, while other brand name browsers like Safari, Internet Explorer, and Firefox fall victim to hacker attacks, Forbes reports.
Why the huge cash prize? Google explains in a blog post that it’s asking for a detailed report of how the hacker was able to exploit the browser, which is not an official condition of the contest. That information will go into making future releases of Chrome even safer.
“Not only can we fix the bugs, but by studying the vulnerability and exploit techniques we can enhance our mitigations, automated testing, and sandboxing,” write Chrome security engineers Chris Evans and Justin Schuh.
It all goes down next week as part of the CanSecWest security conference in Vancouver.

Show your face, Atiku tells Boko Haram
A former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has urged members of the Boko Haram to embrace the opportunity offered for dialogue with the Federal Government in the interest of unity, stability and economic development of the country.
Abubakar made the call against the backdrop of renewed attacks by members of the sect in Jos and Gombe, which had led to scores of death over the weekend.
The former vice-president, who spoke on Monday in a statement by his Media Office in Abuja, said no one would take the group or its agenda seriously when it continued to remain faceless.
He said it was high time the group stepped out to articulate its grievances and thereby opening a window for dialogue.
He reiterated his earlier position that there could be no justification for the killings of Nigerians under any guise.
Abubakar decried the killings and destruction of property, noting that the activities of Boko Haram amounted to a declaration of war on the Nigerian state.
He said, “If Boko Haram and its leadership have something to say; if they have any grouse against the Nigerian state, the proper thing for them is to come out in flesh and state it, so that a process of dialogue that will eventually lead to the resolution of the crisis and the siege on Nigerians can commence in earnest.”
He expressed his condolences to the affected families and governments and people of Plateau and Gombe over the weekend killings in Jos and Gombe.
The Five Richest Pastors In Nigeria
London-based Nigerian Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo |
God is good, especially if you’re a Nigerian pastor with some business savvy. These days, millions of souls, desperate for financial breakthroughs, miracles and healing, all rush to the church for redemption. And while the bible expressly states that salvation is free, at times it comes with a cost: offerings, tithes, gifts to spiritual leaders, and a directive to buy literature and other products created by men of God.
Pastors are no longer solely interested in getting
people to Heaven; they’ve devised intelligent ways to make good money while
reaching out to souls.
Take Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, for example. He is
the founder and lead pastor of the Christ Embassy, a thriving congregation with
branches in Nigeria, South Africa, London, Canada and the United States. His
publishing company, Loveworld Publications, publishes ‘Rhapsody of Realities,’
a monthly devotional he co-authors with his wife. It sells over 2 million copies
every month at $1 apiece. He also owns television stations, newspapers,
magazines, a hotel, a fast-food chain, and more.
Many other Nigerian pastors are similarly building
multi-million dollar empires from their churches. Today, pastors fly around in
private jets, drive fancy cars like Daimlers, Porsches and BMWs, don Rolexes
and Patek Phillipes, and own breathtaking mansions all over the world.
After the blog post I wrote in
May about Nigerian pastors owning private jets, I was bombarded with emails
from readers requesting to know the richest pastors in Nigeria. So I set out to
investigate the assets of some of Nigeria’s most prominent pastors, and I came
up with conservative estimates of their fortunes. I contacted representatives
for all of the pastors and all except Matthew Ashimolowo’s representative
confirmed ownership of the assets I list. Representatives for Pastor Ashimolowo
did not respond to my emails.
Bishop
David Oyedepo
Affiliation: Living Faith World Outreach Ministry,
aka Winners Chapel
Estimated net worth: $150 million
David Oyedepo is Nigeria’s wealthiest preacher.
Ever since he founded the Living Faith World Outreach Ministry in 1981, it has
grown to become one of Africa’s largest congregations. The Faith Tabernacle,
where he hosts three services every Sunday, is Africa’s largest worship center,
with a seating capacity of 50,000. Oyedepo owns four private jets and homes in
London and the United States. He also owns Dominion Publishing House, a
thriving publishing company that publishes all his books (which are often
centered on prosperity). He founded and owns Covenant University, one of
Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions, and Faith Academy, an elite high
school.
Chris
Oyakhilome
Church: Believers’ Loveworld Ministries, a.k.a Christ
Embassy
Estimated net worth: $30 million –
$50 million
Last year, the charismatic preacher was at the
center of a $35 million money laundering case in which he was accused of
siphoning funds from his church to foreign banks. Pastor Chris pleaded no
wrongdoing and the case was eventually dismissed. His church, Christ Embassy,
boasts more than 40,000 members, several of whom are successful business
executives and politicians. Oyakhilome’s diversified interests include
newspapers, magazines, a local television station, a record label, satellite
TV, hotels and extensive real estate. His Loveworld TV Network is the first
Christian network to broadcast from Africa to the rest of the world on a 24
hour basis.
Temitope Joshua
Church: Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN)
Estimated net worth: $10 million – $15 million
Nigeria’s most controversial clergyman is also
one of its richest and most philanthropic. T.B Joshua heads the Synagogue
Church of all Nations (SCOAN), a congregation he founded in 1987, which
accommodates over 15,000 worshippers on Sundays. The Pastor has remained
controversial for several years for his inexplicable powers to heal all sorts
of incurable diseases, including HIV/AIDS, cancer and paralysis. For
miracle-craving worshippers, it’s the perfect seduction. The church currently
has branches in Ghana, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Greece. In the
past three years, he has given over $20 million to causes in education,
healthcare and rehabilitation programs for former Niger Delta militants. He
owns Emmanuel TV, a Christian television network, and is close friends with
Ghanaian President Atta Mills.
Matthew Ashimolowo
Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC)
Estimated net worth: $6 million – $10 million
In 1992, Foursquare Gospel Church, a Nigerian
church, sent Ashimolowo to open a satellite branch in London. But Pastor
Matthew had other ideas and decided to set up his own church instead. Today,
his Kingsway International Christian Center is reportedly the largest
Pentecostal church in the United Kingdom. In 2009, the church posted profits of
close to $10 million and assets worth $40 million. Ashimolowo earns an annual
salary of $200,000, but his real wealth comes from varied business interests
including his media company, Matthew Ashimolowo media, which churns out
Christian literature and documentaries. Ashimolowo’s representatives did not
respond to a request confirming his net worth and ownership of all these
assets.
Chris Okotie
Church: Household of God Church
Net worth: $3 million -$10 million
Pastor Okotie made his first success as a
popular pop musician in the 80s. He found the light, embraced the bible and set
up the Household of God Church, one of Nigeria’s most flamboyant congregations.
His 5,000 member church consists predominantly of Nollywood celebrities,
musicians, and society people. He contested and lost Nigerian presidential
elections for the third time this year under the Fresh Party, a political party
he founded and funds. An automobile lover, he owns a Mercedes S600, Hummer and
Porsche among several others.

Three die as suicide bombers attack church in Jos
Two male suicide bombers dresed in army uniform on Sunday morning attacked the headquarters of Church of Christ in Nigeria in Jos, Plateau State. The suicide bombers drove in a new Volkswagen Bora car to the gate of the church and were allowed into the premises by soldiers guarding the premises.
This was a strange action because the wave of bomb attacks on churches in parts of the North had forced many of them to stop cars from being parked close to their buildings.
After the suicide bombers had gained access to the premises, according to witnesses, they detonated their bombs.
One of the bombers died immediately while the other was badly injured. The survivor reportedly tried to flee the scene but was reportedly clubbed to death by unknown persons.
A 10-year-old girl who was entering the premises when the bombs exploded was killed while a number of worshippers were injured.
Soldiers started shooting immediately after the bombs exploded while security agents were swiftly deployed in the area.
Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, many state officials and indigenes of the state worship at the church.
The governor was not in the church when the explosions took place around 7.30am when the first service was on.
But the church, which is undergoing renovation, was damaged.
The situation forced many churches to shorten their services in Minna, the Niger State capital, on the advice of the state police command.
The spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shuaibu, confirmed the development in an SMS.
He said, “NEMA confirms three dead in a suspected suicide car explosion in Jos today at a worship centre, including the suspected bomber whose body was shredded to pieces. As at now, 38 victims are on admission in the hospital. NEMA and Red Cross have completed evacuation.”

Five things not to do on airplanes
(CNN) -- Every time you get on an airplane, it's a crap shoot. No, I'm not talking about safety but rather the person you'll be sitting next to. All walks of life end up flying at one point or another. Maybe you're stuck sitting next to someone who doesn't quite understand that his actions impact others around him. Or maybe YOU are that person. For that reason, I thought it would be fun to go through the top five things you really shouldn't do on an airplane.

Pandemonium as lady pours faeces on cashier inside banking hall
There was commotion at the Akure main branch of the First Bank of Nigeria Plc on Friday afternoon when a young lady, Miss Sade Babatunde, entered the bank with a polythene bag full of faeces packaged in a can and allegedly poured the content on a cashier who was attending to customers.
Our correspondent gathered that Babatunde, who came to Akure from Owo town, went straight to the cashier, Miss Agnes Olasehinde, and accused her of snatching her husband in the presence of other bank workers and customers inside the banking hall.
It was further learnt that Babatunde opened the polythene bag and, before the security guards could stop her, allegedly poured the entire content with its offensive odour on Olasehinde who was neatly dressed in native attire.
The development caused a pandemonium as everybody inside the hall ran towards the electronically controlled door to escape from the stench which had taken over the entire hall.
Babatunde, according to sources within the bank, did not stop at that as she allegedly held Olasehinde and slapped her on the face severally.
Senior officials of the bank were said to have ordered the security personnel attached to the branch to arrest Babatunde while the cleaners took Olasehinde to the toilet and washed her.
The management of the bank later provided a vehicle that took Olasehinde home so that she could clean herself properly and change her clothes.
An employee of the bank, who would not want his name published, described the development as not only an embarrassment to Olasehinde but also to the organisation.
The Police Public Relations Officer at the Ondo State Command, Mr. Aremu Adeniran, however told our correspondent on the telephone that the suspect had been arrested and detained by the police.
“The incident happened around noon on Friday and the suspect who is with us came to Akure from Owo with a can containing smelling faeces which she poured on the banker. She will be charged to court after necessary investigations have been carried out.”
Our correspondent however, gathered that the suspect was not legally married to the man who she accused the banker of snatching from her but that she already had a child for him.
It was further gathered that the man is a driver.
Davido's pics in bed with groupie, Sonia leaks online
He has been tipped as the next biggest thing in the Nigerian music scene, but now, Davido’s privacy seems to have suffered a set back after a girl leaked pictures of her in bed with him. The self confessed groupie, Sonia posted pictures of herself in bed with the Dami Duro star and in one of the pictures he can be seen kissing him and licking his tattoos. Judging from the pictures, Davido seems to have been knocked out, but what one can not tell is whether he was tired from rounds of sex or Stage performance.

38yr-old man’s suicide plunges Oyo community into grief
The sudden death of a popular hunter and blacksmith via suicide on Feb 11, 2012, in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, appears to have plunged many residents of the area of the city he lived into grief.
CRIME DIGEST gathered that at about 6.30am on that day, Alamu Olajire, 38, who lived in Bakatari in the Omi-Adio area of the city, allegedly picked up his hunting gun, rode on a commercial motorcycle to an uncompleted house on Condemned Road, not far from his own residence, and shot himself in the chest.
Olajire was said to have removed some charms, which he had always worn underneath his clothes, before shooting himself to death.
The gunshots had reportedly drawn the attention of other people living in the neighbourhood to the scene of the action and they had found lifeless body of the hunter in a pool of his own blood.

Jonathan’s government of borrowing
OLUSOLA FABIYI writes on the debt relief sought and got by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the desire of the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan to return to the creditors for loans
June 30, 2005 was a remarkable day in the eight-year rule of Olusegun Obasanjo as Nigeria’s president. That day, Obasanjo addressed Nigerians on the debt relief his government secured from the Paris Club a day earlier. Dressed in a native blue agbadamade from local batik (kampala), Obasanjo, with a cracked voice laced with uncontrollable happiness, announced to Nigerians how happy he was to secure the relief for his country. Followers of events in the country, especially in the six years preceding the struggle for the debt relief, would understand why the then President was upbeat.
Things that can affect your libido
Often, the key to sexual satisfaction may not be the size of the male sex organ, stamina, technical isolation of the G-spot, good foreplay, and so on. Rather, it should be about understanding oneself and the desire of one’s partner. It is recognising the fact that real couples are not born with a perfect, divinely granted understanding of sex and sexuality, but that they are acquired and we all get better by the day.

Amazing facts about birth control
When a woman is delivered of a baby and begins to breastfeed her baby, certain hormones prevent her from ovulating and releasing eggs. But this depends on how often she breastfeeds the baby. Ovulation usually returns after six months, in spite of continuous nursing.
Another name for this method of birth control is the Lactational Amenorrhea Method. Literally, it means that breastfeeding prevents the nursing mother’s body from producing the hormones that cause ovulation (release of eggs) and a return to fertility.
