Man arrested after throwing bottle onto the track as sprinters lined up for London 2012 men's 100m final

Bottle thrown onto track before 100m final

Police confirmed that a male had been detained after the bottle landed behind the Olympic runners as they were called to the set position.

It landed behind Yohan Blake’s lane a few yards behind the runners, but did not affect the start.
Dutch judoka Edith Bosch appeared to claim to have challenged the man.

The Twitter account @edithbosch posted: “A drunken guest throws a bottle for me on the track! I HAVE BEATEN HIM... Unbelievable! Mad disrespectful”

Justin Gatlin said: "There was a little distraction (at the start) and I didn't know what it was. You could hear a pin drop. You just have to block it out. It was a great race, one in the history books and I'm glad to be a part of it. The crowd were electrifying."
Bolt said he was not disturbed by the bottle incident.
"I keep hearing about the bottle but I didn't see anything," he said.

The security breach was an embarrassment for London organisers, with the incident seen by hundreds of millions of people on TV around the world.

Locog said security were called in immediately and the man was ejected. They said they were unclear whether Bosch's claim to have punched the man were true, and that she could face charges if she did.
